Accessibility services
We at ContentA11y make digital content usable by people with disabilities and conformant with WCAG, ADA, Section 508 and PDF/UA. ContentA11Y covers three: document remediation, multimedia captioning and description, and website and mobile auditing. Every fix is AI assisted and human verified by certified specialists, because automated scanning alone reliably detects only about a third of WCAG issues.
Digital accessibility solutions for every format your organization publish
Most vendors cover one content type. Documents go to one supplier, captions to another, the website to a third and each one hands back a different report in a different format. ContentA11Y covers all three under one contract, one point of contact, one set of standards.

Document Accessibility
Transform your documents into accessible formats, ensuring equitable access for all users.

Multimedia Accessibility
Enhance your videos and audio with captions, transcripts, and visual descriptions.

Website and Mobile Audit
Ensure your digital content meets WCAG standards across devices.
What do our digital accessibility services actually deliver?
Remediated files, a defect log, and evidence you can put in front of procurement or counsel. Not a scan report. Every deliverable is verified by a certified specialist against the standard of your contract names, and revised until it passes with no revision cap.
Remediated assets
Production ready files, tagged and verified against PDF/UA and WCAG 2.1 AA
Defect log
Every issue found, its success criterion, severity and resolution status
Verification report
PAC and Adobe Acrobat checker output plus manual screen reader confirmation
Ongoing monitoring
Scheduled rescanning with alerts on regressions after site or content changes
Which standards do accessibility services have to meet?
Which standard applies depends on who funds you and who you serve. Most organizations are governed by more than one at the same time, and the technical target is usually WCAG Level AA regardless of which law creates the obligation.
| Standard | Who It Governs | Technical Target |
|---|---|---|
| ADA Title II | US state and local government, public schools and universities, public libraries | WCAG 2.1 Level AA |
| Section 508 | US federal agencies and their contractors | Revised 508 Standards, WCAG 2.0 AA baseline |
| ADA Title III | US private businesses open to the public | No codified standard; courts apply WCAG 2.1 AA |
| PDF/UA (ISO 14289) | Any organization publishing PDFs | Tag tree, structure and metadata conformance |
| European Accessibility Act | Products and services on the EU market | EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA |
| WCAG 2.2 AA | Global technical standard, increasingly named in new procurement | Nine criteria beyond 2.1; also satisfies 2.1 AA |

How do you compare digital accessibility solutions providers?
Ask five questions. They separate a remediation partner from a scanning tool, and most vendors will only answer three of them cleanly.
What proportion of the work is manual?
Automated scanning reliably catches only about a third of WCAG issues. Reading order, meaningful alt text, focus order and error message clarity all require human judgment.
Do you fix, or only find?
An audit that ends at a report leaves the whole job with your team. Ask whether remediated files come back.
Which formats are in scope?
Most providers do web or documents or media. Confirm before you sign which of your three problems this contract actually solves.
What happens when it fails to recheck?
Ask about the revision policy. Unlimited revisions until the file passes is a different commercial position from a fixed number of rounds.
Can you produce conformance documentation?
Public sector and university procurement will ask for an ACR. Confirm that the provider can produce one
How much do accessibility services cost?
Document remediation is priced per page and scales with structural complexity, not page count alone a 400 page text only report costs less than a 40 page file dense with data tables and charts. Captioning is priced per minute. Web audits are priced by the number of unique templates, and user journeys tested, not total pages.
No minimum fees. Volume discounts. Flexible project pricing.
Which organizations do we support?
- Higher Education course materials, LMS content and campus web
- Healthcare patient portals, billing statements, consent forms, insurance documents
- Public Sector citizenfacing services, forms and public records
- Publishing ebooks, journals and learning materials
- Financial Services statements, disclosures and digital banking
- Hospitality and Travel booking flows and guest facing content
How does a managed accessibility program work?
Four stages, then it repeats. Compliance is not a onetime fix, and a program that ends at delivery leaves you reauditing from scratch after the next content cycle.
- Discovery we audit your documents, multimedia and web properties and size the backlog.
- Triage we prioritize by user impact, legal exposure and publication volume, so the highest risk assets move first.
- Remediation AI assisted processing with certified human verification on every asset.
- Monitoring scheduled rescanning with alerts on regressions after releases and content updates.
Frequently asked questions
What are accessibility services?
Accessibility services make digital content usable by people with disabilities and conformant with standards such as WCAG, ADA, Section 508 and PDF/UA. They cover auditing to find barriers and remediation to fix them, across documents, multimedia, websites and mobile applications.
Can automated tools find all accessibility issues?
No. Automated scanning reliably detects roughly a third of WCAG issues. Judgment based criteria such as meaningful alt text, logical focus order, error message clarity and reading order need manual and screen reader testing.
Do accessibility overlays make a website compliant?
No. Overlays cannot fix underlying code, and sites using them continue to be sued. Regulators and disability organizations have consistently rejected them as a substitute for remediation. They can also interfere with users' own assistive technology.
Which document formats need remediation?
Anything published to users: PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB and increasingly HTML exports. Excel and PowerPoint are the most commonly overlooked, and spreadsheets with merged cells and unlabeled charts are among the hardest to make usable.
What is a VPAT?
A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template is the document a supplier completes to describe how a product conforms to accessibility standards. The completed document is called an Accessibility Conformance Report and is routinely required in public sector and university procurement.
Are mobile apps covered by accessibility law?
Yes. The ADA Title II rule and the HHS Section 504 rule both explicitly cover mobile applications, and the European Accessibility Act covers apps for in scope services. WCAG applies through platform mappings for iOS and Android.
How often should you reaudit?
Annually as a baseline, plus targeted regression testing after any significant release or redesign. Continuous automated monitoring between audits catches regressions early but does not substitute for manual assistive technology testing.
